Kalgachia, 4th Aug: An Induction Programme was organized at Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia to welcome the newly admitted students of Degree 1st Semester and Higher Secondary 1st Year for the academic session 2025. The programme aimed to orient the students about the academic structure, institutional facilities, and support systems available to them as they begin their journey in higher education.
The programme was presided over by the Principal of the college, Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed, who also delivered the welcome address, extending his heartfelt greetings to the fresh batch of students and offering insightful words of encouragement for their academic and personal growth.
The first speaker of the day, Mr. Samsul Haque, Head of the Department of Economics, addressed the students from the Arts stream and gave a detailed overview of the FYUGP Arts syllabus, helping students understand the new curriculum structure under the National Education Policy (NEP).
This was followed by a session from Dr.Hemanta Hazarika, Head of the Department of Chemistry, who elaborated on the FYUGP Science syllabus, guiding students through the structure and content of the science curriculum.
The college librarian, Merina Ahmed, delivered an informative talk on the use of the library and its resources, stressing the importance of reading and academic research.
Dr.Pradyut Rajkumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, spoke on assessment methods, enlightening students about the evaluation criteria, internal assessments, and examination patterns under the new educational framework.
Dr.Shaheb Uddin Khan, Head of the Department of English, addressed the critical topic of anti-ragging measures and hostel facilities. He emphasized the college’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and provided important information regarding hostel rules and infrastructure.
The Head of the Department of Assamese, Syeda Hamida Khatun sensitized the students about anti-sexual harassment policies, ensuring that students are aware of their rights and the mechanisms in place to create a safe and inclusive campus environment.
Mr. Pankaj Kundu, Lower Division Assistant (LDA) of the college, provided valuable guidance on scholarship schemes, informing students about eligibility criteria, application procedures, and deadlines.
The entire programme was efficiently hosted by Dr.FakrulAlom, Head of the Department of Political Science, who maintained the flow of the event with grace and professionalism.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Neetu Saharia, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese, who expressed gratitude to all the speakers, the organizing team, and the students for making the event successful.
The induction programme was graced by the presence of the faculty members of the college, whose involvement reflected the institution’s commitment to student welfare and academic excellence.
