The Department of Political Science at Nabajyoti College is as old as the college itself. When Nabajyoti College was established in 1971, this department was a key part of it and provided Higher Secondary Courses. The main objective of the college, as well as the Political Science Department, was to provide new light, hope, and enlightenment to society as a whole. It is important to note that this college was the first higher education institution in the entire area. Gradually, the importance of education, particularly the awareness of higher education, spread among the people of this area. To fulfill this purpose, Nabajyoti College introduced a degree course in Political Science in 1973. Since then, this department has been able to fulfill the hopes of meritorious and financially disadvantaged students in Kalgachia. The outcomes of this department have been so satisfying that the results have gradually improved year by year.
