The RUSA 2.0/PM-USHA Assam sponsored two-day Teachers’ Training Programme on “Mentoring Cutting Edge Research in the Light of NEP 2020” was successfully organized by Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia, in collaboration with the UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Gauhati University. The event brought together eminent academicians and professionals who shared valuable insights on fostering research aptitude, academic leadership, and innovation in alignment with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Welcome speech was given by the Principal of the college and the chairperson of the programme Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed.
Day 1: 24th October 2025
The inaugural session was followed by four engaging sessions led by distinguished resource persons.
Session I: Prof. Manjit Das, Registrar, Bhattadev University, delivered a lecture on “Uses of Primary and Secondary Data in Research.” He emphasized the importance of selecting appropriate data sources and maintaining research integrity through effective data analysis.

Session II: Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, Retired IAS Officer, presented on “Academic Leadership and Strategic Planning.” His session highlighted the evolving role of teachers as academic leaders and the need for strategic approaches to institutional development and policy implementation.

Session III: Dr. Bihung Brahma, Assistant Professor, CIT Kokrajhar, conducted an interactive talk on “An Introductory Talk on Soft Skills and Emotional Quotient.” He discussed the importance of emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills in professional and academic environments.

Session IV: Dipanjon Konwar, Consultant and Certified Auditor, spoke on “Governance and Quality Management in Higher Educational Institutions (HEI).” His lecture addressed quality assurance frameworks, accreditation processes, and institutional governance mechanisms under NEP 2020.
Day 2: 25th October 2025
The second day continued with four insightful sessions focusing on technology, research mindset, stress management, and project design.

Session I: Dr. Ankur Kanti Guha, Assistant Professor, Cotton University, delivered a session on “Integrating Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Research Methodologies.” He elaborated on how AI tools and digital technologies can enhance research quality, accuracy, and innovation.
Session II: Prof. Dhanapati Deka, Vice Chancellor, Bhattadev University, discussed “Cultivating a Research Mindset: From Curiosity to Discovery.” His lecture encouraged educators to nurture curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation among students and fellow researchers.
Session III: Prof. Ranjan Tamuli, from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, spoke on “Handling Research Stress, Burnout, and Work-Life Balance in Academia.” He shed light on mental well-being, time management, and coping strategies essential for sustaining research productivity.

Session IV: Prof. Prodeep Phukan, Director, CDC, Gauhati University, presented a comprehensive talk on “Designing High-Impact Research Projects: Planning, Methodology, and Collaboration.” His session provided practical insights into developing impactful research proposals and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
The programme concluded with a Valedictory Session and the vote of thanks was given Mr. Subrat Kakati,HoD, Dept of Botany and the Proogramme coordinator of the program. The entire program was hosted by Dr. Fakhrul Alom, HoD, Dept of Political Science, Dr. Atrayee Banaspati, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Chemistry and Dr. Sangeeta Choudhury, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Zoology.
Conclusion
The two-day training programme proved to be a significant step towards empowering teachers with advanced research mentoring skills, in line with the vision of NEP 2020. The sessions collectively emphasized the integration of technology, emotional intelligence, and strategic planning in academic research. The collaborative initiative by Nabajyoti College and the UGC–Malaviya Mission TTC, Gauhati University, successfully achieved its objective of fostering a culture of research excellence and innovation among educators.
