Celebration of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma’s Birth Anniversary as ‘Chatra Divas’

The Birth Anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, marked as Chatra Divas, was celebrated with great fervor and reverence at Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia. The event commenced at 10:00 a.m. with the lighting of the lamp in honour of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma by Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed, Principal, Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia, alongside other esteemed professors and students of the college.

Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed, the Principal of the College, and also the chairperson of the program, moderated the entire activities of the program. The program began with the felicitation of dignitaries attending the event. The event’s purpose was eloquently described by A. R Dewan, HoD of the Arabic Department, setting the stage for the subsequent speeches and activities.

Following this, speeches were delivered by Meghalee Morang and Debutpal Bora, highlighting the life, education, achievements, and the remarkable contributions of Upendra Brahma towards society. Their speeches shed light on his dedication to student politics and his ultimate sacrifice for the upliftment of the Bodo community, leaving the audience deeply moved and inspired.

Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed, Principal, Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia, delivered a profoundly thought-provoking speech, further emphasizing the importance of commemorating Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma’s ideals and principles in contemporary society.

Subsequently, a Quiz Competition on the Culture and Communities of Assam was organized and skilfully conducted by Quiz Masters, Abu Sayad Rofi, Assistant Professor, Department of English, and Pritam Dey Sarkar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology. The competition engaged participants and audience members alike, generating a deeper understanding and appreciation of the culture and heritage of Assam.

Furthermore, an essay competition on Chatra Divas was conducted, providing an opportunity for students to express their thoughts and insights on the significance of the occasion, encouraging critical thinking and introspection among the participants.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Kakali Hazarika, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and attendees for their valuable contributions and active participation in making the event a resounding success.
