Kalgachia, 5th Sept: Teachers’ Day was observed with great enthusiasm at Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia, where the college also took the opportunity to felicitate a number of dedicated teachers from the Greater Kalgachia area.

The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal of the college, Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed, who also presided over the meeting. In his welcome address, he warmly greeted all the guests, faculty, and students. The purpose of the program was highlighted by Dr Hemanta Hazarika, Head of the Department of Chemistry, who emphasized the importance of acknowledging the contributions of teachers in shaping society.
The main highlight of the occasion was the felicitation ceremony, where 15 dedicated teachers from in and around the Kalgachia area were honoured with a memento and a letter of appreciation for their selfless service to the cause of education. In addition, two faculty members of the college, Dr. Nafisa Younis (Assistant Professor, Dept. of History) and Dr. Sangeeta Choudhary (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Zoology), were specially recognized by the Principal with letters of appreciation on the successful completion of their PhDs.

Furthermore, Dr. Pradhyut Rajkumar (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics) was honoured for his extraordinary contribution towards research.
The academic session of the day included two inspiring speeches. The first speaker, Mr. Kumaruzzaman, delivered a talk on the life and philosophy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birthday is commemorated as Teachers’ Day. The second speaker, Dr Kakali Hazarika (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Economics), spoke on the theme “Education: The Path of Enlightenment”, underlining the transformative power of education in society.

The program concluded with a speech by the Principal, who expressed gratitude to all participants and encouraged everyone to uphold the values of dedication and service in the field of education. The vote of thanks was offered by Nayan Mani Devi (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Assamese). The event was seamlessly conducted by Dr. Fakhrul Alom (HoD, Dept. of Political Science) and Meghalee Morang (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Assamese), who served as the hosts of the ceremony.
