Dates: 28th and 29th August
The Department of Physics at Nabajyoti College successfully organized a two-day workshop on “LED Bulb Making and Entrepreneurship Opportunities” on the 28th and 29th of August. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of LED technology and to encourage them to explore entrepreneurship in the field of small-scale businesses.
The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony presided over by the Principal of the college, Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed. Dr. Ahmed, who was honored with a traditional fulam gamusa, delivered the inaugural address, wherein he lauded the Physics Department for initiating such an innovative workshop. He emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity among students and urged them to become job creators rather than job seekers.
Following the principal’s speech, the Head of the Department of Physics, Mr. Kumaruzzaman, delivered a welcome address. He expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm displayed by the students, particularly the first-semester students, who actively participated in the event.
The first technical session of the workshop was conducted by Dr. Pradhyut Rajkumar. In his session, Dr. Rajkumar traced the evolution of semiconductors and delved into the physics underlying their operation. He explained the workings of LEDs and highlighted their significance in the modern world.
This was followed by a lecture on “Entrepreneurship and Small Scale Business” by Dr. DebashisSaikia. Dr. Saikia provided insights into the journey of an entrepreneur, emphasizing the critical role that entrepreneurship plays in today’s economy. The final session of the day was a practical demonstration of the “LED Making Process” by Mr. Anupam Deka. He explained the motivation behind organizing such workshops and assured students that similar programs would be conducted in the future. After the demonstration, students had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, where they practiced making LED bulbs under the guidance of the instructors.
The second day of the workshop featured a demonstration on the “Utilization of Breadboards,” where students were taught how breadboards function and their applications. This session was followed by another technical session focusing on “Soldering Techniques”.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, presided over by Mr. Kumaruzzaman. During this session, certificates of participation were distributed to all students who took part in the workshop, acknowledging their active involvement and commitment.
The department has also contributed 20 numbers of LED bulb prepared by the students to the college as a part of their contribution to the college.
The two-day workshop was asuccess, with students gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to LED technology and entrepreneurship. The event not only fostered interest in electronics and small-scale business ventures but also provided a platform for students to engage in creative and innovative activities.
