Observation of International Women’s Day

Kalgachia, 11th March 2024: The economic, cultural, and political achievements of women are celebrated globally on 8th March every year. In this connection, the Women Cell, ACTA Unit, and Women’s Forum have organized International Women’s Day,2024 on the college premises.

The program begins with the inaugural ceremony of a Pad Vending Machine in the Girls’ Common Room donated by the Women and Child Welfare Department, Barpeta. Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed, Principal, Nabajyoti College inaugurated the machine and delivered an inaugural speech, where he talked about the health and hygiene of women and Kaberi Sonowal, Asst. Prof., English, has demonstrated the use of the machine.

In continuation of the program, a lecture series has also been arranged in the Teachers’ Conference Hall with Dr. Shahjahan Ali Ahmed, Principal, Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia in the chair. The purpose of the program was narrated by Nayan Mani Devi, Assistant Prof., Assamese. After the felicitation program, a book entitled “Inner Voice”, published on behalf of the Women’s Forum was inaugurated by the Chairperson which was followed by his observational remarks on the book. 

The series started with the display of a video lecture by Dayananda Pathak, an eminent educationist, and writer who talked about the condition of women in various fields. Dr.Fakhrul Alom, HoD, Political Science gave a detailed lecture on the rights of women with the help of a PowerPoint Presentation.

The importance and need for investment in women were verbally discussed along with various eye-catching examples by Dr. Kakali Hazarika, Asst. Prof., Economics. Moreover, the economic status and financial independence of women were discussed by Pankaj Kundu, Junior Assistant, at Nabajyoti College. After the interactive session with the students, the program was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr.MalabikaBaglari, Asst. Prof. Assamese. The Entire program was hosted and anchored collaboratively by Meghalee Morang, Asst. Prof. Assamese and Abu Sayad Rofi, Asst. Prof., English.
