Kalgachia, 24th Nov: FIT INDIA WEEK was observed in Nabajyoti College, Kalgachia from 17th of Nov to 23rd of Nov 2023 to promote a healthy and active lifestyle by indulging in various activities such as indigenous sports and games, yoga and meditation, quizzes, debates, pledge taking of fitness, cycling races, running races etc. Fit India Week was conceived in the year 2019 with the imperative need to create awareness about fitness among children, parents, teachers and school staff. This year, the Fit India Mission has decided to expand the outreach of the Fit India Week for schools, universities and higher educational institutions. Keeping in mind this objective and to spread the message of fitness among various segments of the population, a six-day programme was organised by Nabajyoti College.
On Day 1, the principal of the college, Dr Shahjahan Ali Ahmed inaugurated the programme. The Vice Principal of the College, Sushil Kumar Sarkar, Academic Observer, Kumaruzzaman, the HoD English, Shaheb Uddin Khan and the faculties of the college were present in the programme. The first day started with great enthusiasm and spirit with a cricket match between the Students’ Union body of the college and the faculties of the college, with the captaincy of the principal of the college. The principal’s team won the match. Then, there was a running race of 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres, both in the boy’s and girl’s section. The games conducted on this day were organised by the Secretary and Professor In-charge of Major Games, Dr. FakhrulAlom and Dr. MalabikaBaglari.
On Day 2, i.e., on 18th Nov, there were various games organised by the Minor Games Secretary and Professor In-charge, DrNeetuSaharia and SubratKakati. The games were Carrom, Skipping, Needle Thread, Marble Spoon, Blind Shot and Music Chair. The students of the college and also the Faculties of the college participated in the competitions.
On Day 3, i.e., on 20th Nov, Poem recitation and On the Spot Poem Writing competitions were organised by the Editor of the college magazine and the Professor In-charge, Masud Hassan and Bitupan Kr. Deka. The students of the college participated in both these programmes. KaberiSonowal, Asst. Prof. Dept. of English and Meghalee Morang, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Assamese were present as the judges of both programmes.
On Day 4, various competitions like the Slogan Competition, Bhupendra Sangeet, Salad making competition, Mehendi Competition, and Campus cleaning competition were organised in the college. The programmes were organised by the professor in charge and the secretaries of Girls’ Common Room, Social Service and Music and Culture. On Day 5, a Quiz Competition, Photography competition and Debate was organised by the Debate and Symposium Secretary and Prof-In-Charge. On Day 6, competitions like Tug of War, and Weight Lifting were organised by the Boys’ Common Room and Gymnasium Secretaries and Prof-in-charges.
