RashtriyaEkta Divas was celebrated in Nabajyoti College to commemorate the 148th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister, who for his iron will and nerves of steel earned the title ‘Iron Man of India’. The programme started with the lighting of a lamp by the principal of the college, Dr Shahjahan Ali Ahmed and paying homage to the iconic personality. The Vice- Principal of the college, Prof. Sushil Kumar Sarkar, all the faculties of the college and the students were present in the programme. The HoD of Political Science, Dr. Fakhrul Alam hosted the programme and also discussed the objectives of the programme.
The significance of the programme and the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to the nation-building and unification of India was discussed by the college principal, Dr Shahjahan Ali Ahmed. Then, there was a pledge-taking ceremony initiated by the principal of the college where the participants vowed to uphold the values of unity and integrity. The Vice Principal of the college concluded the programme and also provided a vote of thanks to the organisers and participants of the programme.
